What are cookies?

Cookies are made up of small portions of code (IT files or partial data) sent by a server to the user’s web browser, memorised automatically by the browser on the user’s computer and automatically sent back to the server each time they are required, or the next time the user accesses the website. Cookies usually contain the name of the website the cookie comes from, how long it lasts (i.e. how long it remains on the user’s device) and a value, usually a single number generated randomly. At each subsequent visit, the cookies are sent back to the website they came from (first-party cookies) or to another website that recognises them (third-party cookies). Cookies are useful because they allow websites to recognise the user’s device, and have a number of purposes, such as, for example, allowing users to browse pages efficiently, remembering favourite websites and, in general, improving the user’s browsing experience. They also help to ensure that the advertising content viewed online is more closely targeted to a particular user and to his/her interests.

If users decide to disable cookies, this might influence and/or restrict their browsing experience within the websites. For example, it may prevent them from visiting particular sections of a Website, or from receiving personalised information when they visit the Websites.

How do cookies work, and how can they be removed?

The way cookies function and the options for restricting or blocking them can be regulated by changing the settings of your browser. The default setting of most web browsers automatically accepts cookies, but users can change these settings in order to block cookies, or to be notified each time cookies are sent to their device. There are a number of different ways to manage cookies, and to do so, you should refer to the instruction manual or the help screen of your browser to check how to adjust or change the settings. Users may change the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e. definitively block them) by setting the highest level of protection.

Below you can find how to manage cookies from the following browsers:

Users who view and access the Websites from a number of different devices (for example, computer, smartphone, tablet PC, etc.) must ensure that each browser on each device is regulated in such a way as to reflect their preferences with regard to cookies. To remove cookies from the web browser of your smartphone/tablet PC, refer to the instruction manual of the device.

What types and categories of cookies are used by Autogas Nord, and what for?

Websites use different types of cookies, each of which has a specific function. Autogas Nord uses cookies to make the Websites simpler to use and to adapt both the Websites and their products to the interests and needs of users. Cookies may also be used to speed up users’ future experiences and activities on the Websites. In addition, Autogas Nord uses cookies to compile anonymous aggregate statistics to help illustrate how users use the websites, with a view to improving the structure and content of the websites.

Please find below details explaining the cookies used on this website:

Technical cookies

“Technical” cookies are essential for the proper functioning of Websites, allowing users to browse the Websites and make use of their functions (for example to memorise previous actions, to save the user’s session and/or perform other activities strictly necessary for the functioning of the Websites).
Also part of this category are “analytical” cookies, which allow Autogas Nord to understand how users interact with the Websites, by providing information on the last page visited, the number of sections and pages visited, the time spent browsing the Websites and everything that emerges while the user is visiting the website, such as an error message, thus helping to illustrate and explain any difficulties users may encounter when using the Websites. This information could be associated with details regarding the user, such as their IP address, domain or browser, but it is analysed together with information on other users, so that one particular user cannot be distinguished from another. These cookies are collected and stored anonymously, in aggregate form, so as to allow Autogas Nord to improve the performance of the Websites.
Finally, “functional” cookies allow Websites to remember user choices (for example username), allowing for a smoother, more personalised browsing experience. Functional cookies are not indispensable for the functioning of the Websites, but they improve the quality of the browsing experience. If users do not accept these cookies, the performance and functions of the Websites may prove inferior, and access to the content of the Websites could be limited.

Analytical Cookies

These cookies collect information on how users use the website: for example which pages are visited most often and whether users receive error messages.
The data collected are read in aggregate form in order to understand the efficiency of the website and the level of the browsing experience. They are used exclusively to improve the functioning and performance of the website.

Google Analytics uses text files that are deposited on your computer to allow the website to analyse how users use the website. The information generated by the cookies on the use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted and deposited at Google servers in the USA. If IP address anonymity has been activated on this website, your e-mail address will be abbreviated within the borders of the European Union and the countries in the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the IP address be transmitted to the Google servers, where it will be abbreviated. Google will use this information to monitor how the website is used, to compile reports on the website activities for the website operators and to provide other services related to the activities of the website and the use of Internet. Google may also transfer this information to third parties, where this is mandatory by law or where said third parties process the aforementioned information on behalf of Google. Google will not associate your IP address with any other kind of data held by Google. You can deactivate the cookies from your browser, but this will prevent a number of uses of the website. By using this website, you agree to the processing of your data on the part of Google in the ways and for the purposes indicated above.

Further information on the terms of use and on data protection can be consulted in the terms of service of Google Analytics and the Data Protection Regulations of Google Analytics.
